Tell me about Dr. Tommy C. Chen?
Dr. Tommy C. Chen has more than five years of academic research experience during his Master and Ph.D. study in the Civil Engineering Dept. of the Univ. of Queensland.
His research interests involve many different engineering disciplines, including Computer-Aided Design, Structural Optimization, Genetic Algorithms, Analysis of Laminated Plates and Shells, Finite Element and Approximated Methods.
Tell me about Dr. Q. Xue?
Dr. Qiang Xue obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Queensland in 1998. She has a strong educational background with sound academic records, computer programming skills, and four years professional working experience in civil and structural engineering. She is skillful at computer programming on different platforms and operating systems, experienced in using several computer languages, developed and modified several packages with graphical user interface or multimedia, and familiar with a variety of existing software of word processing and graphics. She was characterized by her supervisor as having a "fresh and quick" mind, being able to keep the goal in mind and make some achievements efficiently and independently.
She was once worked as the only design engineer in a construction company. and characterized by her employer as a responsible, diligent and competed engineer solving practical problems which worried other project engineers for several construction sites engaged by the company. As a result, this helped save a lot of money for the company. She was familiar with several design codes for reinforced concrete and steel structures of different countries and experienced in the design of residential and commercial buildings including main structure, foundation, retaining wall, etc. She is also skillful at architectural and structural estimation which helped the company to win the bidding. Her working efficiency did give a very good impression to the executive manager and the corresponding project engineers. Three years working in the Institute benefits her for a thorough knowledge and sound understanding of structural mechanics and other subjects in the area of civil and structural engineering.
